Grammies

Did you watch it? What a fantastic show. Usually they are okay but last night's was amazing. Beyonce rocked the house, Pink(what can I say....wow!), and a great MJ tribute....that's right Lulu MJ's dead, get over it. It really was a great tribute. Great voices. Who picked them? I know I picked Usher(shocker!) but the others I can't take credit for. It was very moving. Fergie looked stunning too. I missed the EJ and Lady Gaga performance(insert sad face). I am sure it was great too. Oh and last but not least.....there was no lip syncing! Whoot whoot! First show in a long time of any kind where there was not any of that nonsense. I detest that. It is in my top five pet peeves for sure. No need for a great musician to think that they need to lip sync in a live performance.

Rastaman

So, do you change your accent regularly when you are talking to a person from another culture?
Let me give you some background.
We got a flat tire in the evening last Saturday night. It was dark, we were in the van, and we had the kids with us. Jon was changing the tire when another van pulls up and a man gets out to ask us if we need some help(I don't need to tell you what culture he was because Jon's next words will explain it all) and Jon in his best rastaman voice said, "Na mawn. I'm almos' done eh." I could not believe my ears! He got in the van and I said, "So, do you change your accent when you are talking to someone from Texas on the phone at work too?" He had no idea what he had done. Of course after I told him we laughed hysterically. Do you know someone that does this?

Great Weekend

Friday....night out with a girlfriend of mine that doesn't live here(she was in town). We went to the Vin Room. New to me. Thumbs up but I could have ate more than what we ordered. Nice atmosphere.

Saturday......Connor hockey game(sister came to watch along with Grandma&Grandpa K.). He had fun and scored 3 goals. He was very happy about that. Elliot went to swimming lessons which he loves. He put his goggles on this time and looked so cute. Everytime he went under he would slip his googles down over his eyes and lift them when he came back up. Then Connor's swimming.....he was very anxious and worried about it. I sat by the side and that helped. He did it and I was very proud of him for that. It was hard for him. My rule......kids have to know how to swim. It's a life skill in my eyes. I hope he will thank me later. Confidence comes with practice so here's hoping..... After that we just chilled. Went for a walk in the afternoon for slurpies. It was brisk but very invigorating(I am sure that's not the word the boys would choose).

Sunday......more hockey and it was great too. Elliot had breakfast of champs at the rink....Ketchup chips. Then I drove to COP and the boys and I took a private snowboarding lesson. Very fun and they loved it! Hit McDonald's on the way home and even I had a Big Mac(what up?). Then lights out for both boys and a quiet drive home for mommy. Nice casual supper, Duke's movie for the boys, and I topped the night off with a night to the movies with M.I.L.(mother in law) to see Nine. Great movie. Right up our alley. That is for sure our type of film and way to go Daniel Day Lewis. He did a great job.

What a great weekend. Jam packed and I have a messy house to prove it!

Great Advice for 2010(Do It Anyway)

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered

Succeed anyway
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway
The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway

Fight for the underdog anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you've got and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
